What it covers
What this coverage is for
A private policy, not a lender requirement
No lender arranges this and no lender requires it. It is life insurance you buy, own and can cancel.
The money goes to the person you name
It is paid to the person named on the policy, not to the lender. What it is spent on is theirs to decide, and clearing the house is one of the choices.
The payment does not pause
The house costs what it always cost on the same schedule, in the worst week the family has had.
Staying put stays a choice
Whether the family keeps the home is a decision somebody makes. This is about it remaining a decision rather than an outcome.
Side by side
With a plan, and without one
When the coverage is in place
- The family decides whether to stay instead of being told.
- The house payment is not the first problem of the first week.
- The questions were asked once and calmly of one licensed agent.
- The paperwork sits in one place and somebody knows where.
When there is nothing in place
- The house payment arrives on the schedule it always did.
- The family works out what it can afford in the same week it is grieving.
- Selling becomes the option that is left rather than the one that was chosen.
- Nobody is certain what coverage exists or where the papers are.

Answers
Questions people ask
Does the money go to the lender?
No. It goes to the person named on the policy. They decide what to do with it, and clearing the house is one of the things they can choose.
Does the amount shrink as the loan is paid down?
That depends which kind you buy. Level term stays the same for the whole term, and decreasing term is written to fall over time. The agent shows you both and what each one is for.
What happens at the end of the term?
Term coverage ends when its term does, unless something else is arranged before then. That is a date worth knowing in advance, and the agent goes through the options.
Is this arranged by my lender?
No. This site is not affiliated with your lender, and it does not sell insurance itself.
